You have probably read that fiber is good for your health, but did you know that it could also help you lose weight ? High fiber foods make us feel fuller longer in several ways. My studies have seen that people who eat high fiber diets find a much lower rate of overweight and obese people. You should be eating at least 21 to 25 grams of fiber a day, yet most Americans eat only half that amount. Finding foods that are high in fiber is not hard, you just need to know where to look and how to get it. I consider a food that provides 3 grams or more of fiber per serving is a good high fiber choice. Food labels will tell you how much fiber is in a serving of your favorite foods. Generally, unprocessed carbohydrates like whole grains, fruits, vegetables, beans and legumes are terrific sources of fiber.
